About me

Practically my whole life I was busy with Literature and Visual arts. Especially Visual arts came in my life the moment I started a gallery in the center of Maestricht: Gallery FAH. In that time I worked also as a teachter in Dutch language in Heerlen at the Coriovallum College In those galleryyears I came in contact with the graphical works of many Czech artists and also the works of Duch and international well-known artists, like  a group called the Amsterdam Limburgers.: Pieter Defesche, Jef Diederen,  Ger Lataster en Lei Molin. I did also an exhibition with the French artist, Damien Valero. Untill 2007  we explored the gallery in Maestricht. In 2008 I decided to stop , after 25 years. It became to much. and also my perspective changed.

We moved in 2008 to the village of Eckelrade, very near Maestricht. From that moment I could make a dream come true, making my own paintings. I did a study painting in Bilzen, a Belgian city and finished it 5 years later. Then, Liberte Stoffels was my teacher, painting. After that, I also follow the study drawing. I am still grateful for that. After that in 2018, I developed my love for watercolor  The medium is so beautiful; the transparency, the flow of the paint, the beautiful colors. I then took the lessons and the painting course with artist and painter Hans Mulder. This teacher has taught me many valuable insights about the technique and its creative elaboration and continues to do so. I owe a lot to him. Now I paint almost every day and my attention almost always goes to the city scenes, but portraits also fascinate me.

At a certain point you dare to call yourself an artist and you become one, not by following an education, but by working on it every day and giving it your full attention. the gallery years have also given me a lot of insight into what makes an artist a craftsman: perseverance, uninterrupted activity and above all, as always, love for the craft. Yes, I am an artist.
